I use artists acrylics for most of my paintings. I like the ability to work in transparent layers, diverse textures and finishes. Acrylic paints have come a long ways since I first used them many years ago. I enjoy working on wooden cradled supports but also paint on paper, canvas and other materials. In the past, an artist’s painting was called a “canvas”. Nowdays, with so many different stable and archival materials available, the term “support” is now commonly used for the painting surface.
